  • Overview

    Physically verifies and documents incoming materials for traceability and accruacy; communicates with internal Buyers for shortages, damages, and material inaccuracy; accurately receives materials in the purchase order receiving database.  Acts as back-up to Shipping team member(s).




    • Compares identifying information and accurately counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming materials to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
      • Contact internal Buyer regarding damaged materials.
      • Records shortages on delivery receipt, and alert Driver and internal Buyer of material shortage.
    • Accurately delivers materials to department/location in a timely and safe manner using established guidelines.
    • Accurately receive materials in the purchase order receiving database.
    • Operates Forklift or uses hand truck to safely move, convey, or hoist materials from receiving platform to designated location.
    • Ensures inventory is organized and placed in the appropriate bin/rack following safety guidelines.
    • On a daily basis, review receiving reports for accuracy and completeness.
    • On a daily basis, distributes receiving packing list to Finance Department for matching of invoice and receipt.
    • Assists with raw material and supply inventories.
    • Performs general housekeeping, maintenance and organization of the dock and inventory areas; includes hands-on cleaning along with organization and interpersonal skills to coordinate with department manager and other departments for maintenance and safety compliance.
    • Assist with inventory counts and monthly inventory accounting as requested.
    • Assists with shipping customer orders in palletizing, will call, and UPS.
    • Determines method of shipment.
    • Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
    • Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
    • Inserts items into containers.
    • Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape.
    • Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
    • Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
    • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.

    One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
