  • Overview

    Lead the Waterman team to a safe and healthly environment.  Responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and analyzing work environments and implement programs and procedures to control, eliminate, and prevent disease or injury caused by chemical, physical, and biological agents or ergonomic factors. Ensure compliance with local, state and federal occupational health and safety regulations as well as McWane health and safety policies and procedures.

    Wage Range: $80,000 to $100,000 per year

    Responsibilities

    • Analyze and develop health and safety programs, procedures and work instructions
    • Investigate potential hazards and review incident and near miss investigations to determine root cause and implement engineering or administrative controls
    • Communicate technical information across the organization to include training of managers and personnel on various aspects of safety
    • Compile numerical or statistical data 
    • Confer with engineering, technical or manufacturing personnel to help eliminate hazards throughout the organization
    • Evaluate manufacturing or processing systems 
    • Inspect facilities or equipment for regulatory and McWane health and safety compliance 
    • Perform safety inspections in industrial, manufacturing or repair setting 
    • Recommend measures to ensure maximum employee protection 
    • Learns and follows the environmental management system as defined and require.
    • Responsible to suggest improvements to the health and safety management system when and where appropriate.
    • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving issues.

    Qualifications

    A minimum of an undergraduate degree in Occupational Safety or in a related field and/or have significant safety experience. Eligible for the position if candidate holds a CSP or CIH. Experience with OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) is a strong plus.
